It's hard to say how many in this crowd are present for pure self interest or for true worship reasons, but I prefer to err on the side of optimism. There is another dramatic contrast that this video lends itself to. The evangelist is German. Remember the last time a high profile man of German(Austrian) background stood in front of a massive crowd? Think circa 1939-1945... think 'Nuremburg rallies'. This man has a different tone, a different message.. a message of life and hope. He is not a perfect person.. no doubt about that... but he does have a perfect mission.
Perfect missions do not make perfect people.. nor do vast numbers of uncountable people.. in fact the effect can be the opposite.. the temptation to become drunk with self absorbed 'power' must be almost irresistible. But for me, as long as Reinhard Bonke stays on message and method... Let God be praised. Even if he strays, his work will still be remembered as remarkable.
For us, it is our calling to never ever put our faith in people, other than the one who was nailed to the cross at Calvary. In having that faith, we are on safe ground and secure belief.
