8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
The Guards’ Report11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. 12 When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, 13 telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ 14 If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.”
The guards were under the death penalty if they let Jesus escape... (not a likely prospect, considering he was dead) but to their stunned amazement and psychological trauma... it had happened and not in any ordinary way... it was by dramatic supernatural means.
The people who cared most about Jesus staying dead, were the Jewish religious leaders, then, as now. No one among the religious leaders wanted a resurrected living Jesus who was such a threat to their comfortable cozy status quo. But I wonder what they were actually thinking? I mean, their mind games and probable hysteria would have been cataclysmic. I suppose they simply tried to deny what had happened, because so much of the totality of their social and psychological equilibrium was tied up in their social positions and status.
In spite of the compelling nature of Jesus teaching and his own declaration of his necessary death, in spite of the miracles and signs he performed, especially the man born blind who was healed, who the religious leaders had interviewed extensively... they must have face a horrific dilemma.
-"We know he is true"
-"If we admit this, our social position and political power will be nothing"
Sadly, they chose to prop up their positions rather than promulgate their confession.
In the current local (Australia) conflict zones between the political Left and Normality, we find various incarnations of this same pharisaical and dogmatic denial of truth in regard to the Reclaim movement. The socialists and anarchists are so insistent on their own program of social destruction, that they recoil in horror at the thought of it being threatened by anything or anyone who might represent the Christian traditions that underpin our Nation.
As the Jewish leaders did after Jesus resurrection, They "paid off" the relevant parties and tried to gag all who knew.... 15 So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. So too the political Left tries any means they can employ... even to the sending of fraudulent death notices to Facebook to have prominent activist accounts taken down.
They are devising their own plans and perfidy to create a train wreck of the Reclaim movement, not because the Reclaim cause is untrue or unworthy of public attention, but purely because they (the socialists) fear their control of the social agenda might lose momentum. So.. in a metaphorical sense, they "pay a large sum of money" to all and sundry to protect their narrative. They conspire with the police, and among themselves to prevent the general public coming to hear more of reclaiming the political and social agenda from this feral minority. This is the same mentality of the Jewish leaders who had a huge intellectual problem... they knew that Jesus had risen... but now what? The tragedy of this is that 'while they knew'.... they still cared more for earthly prestige and power than truth.
Fortunately for Australia, truth will prevail. Even if the next lot of Australia wide rally's are overshadowed by intense anarchist and socialist sedition, this will not stop the relentless growth of Reclaim or even a similarly minded highly motivated group to draw Australia into the realm of reality, truth and liberty from the oppression of Socialist tyranny. The Socialists would do well to remember, that in the high stakes of political change, they are limited to a small number of misguided morons, relative to the clear thinking broad population. It might be timely to remind them also, that public confrontation is only going to advance the cause of those they despise, especially considering that as I write this, reports are filtering in of multiple Islamist attacks in Tunisia, Kuwait and France where there was a man beheaded!
Looking at some of the images of middle aged tourists in Tunisia in the aftermath of the shootings, I wonder if they are thinking "I'ts only a radical fringe.. it's not all Muslims".. but not so funnily enough, all of these killing spree's are by... Muslims- and claiming they are just uneducated fools is not supported by the facts. The Tunisian shooter was an aviation student.
We look forward to July the 18th.
The best 'thing' we can ever reclaim is our first love for God in Christ. As a Nation, we have slipped from the mountaintop of confession down to the quicksand of contradiction and concession to evil.
4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. (Rev 2)
