Some Practical Economic Reasons why Russia might want to run Ukraine.

One of the BIGGEST reasons would have to be the fact that the worlds largest aircraft the Antonov, is manufactured near Kiev, Ukraine.  The company began under the old Soviet Union as a State Commercial facility. Since independence in 1991, Russia lost it and independent Ukraine gained it.

You don't have to be a designer of mammoth aircraft to realize that this must feel like a bleeding economic and prestige destroying ulcer on the heel of Russia.  They have been pruned back from walking on both feet to limping like a cripple in many areas of industrial life.

It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall of the discussions between Ukraine and Russia over the future of the Antonov plant.  Perhaps many of the components are manufactured in the industrial heartland of eastern Ukraine where Russia is currently assisting the rebels to secede from Ukraine? Who knows, but of one thing we can be sure.. forget about all the posturing by Ukraine and it's government (illegal government) on issues of 'human rights'... these kinds of conflicts are never about that....they are hard core economic and trade related.

Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account. (Ecclesiastes 3:15)
