The Pen is mightier than the sword, but the Pen must sometimes move the sword against corruption if the corrupt are not moved by the pen.. An idea without an implementer is useless. "The Rulers do not carry the sword in vain"Rom 13:4

Treaty of Waitangi, speaking about 'Huge Lies often told'....

Apparently, today is New Zealand's national day, celebrating the Treaty of Waitangi between Maori leaders and 'Whitey' (The Crown).

So the 'lie' that we white folks tell ourselves is that the Maori agreed to English Crown Sovereignty over the land and it's people.  It's a very convenient lie, and one which works to the benefit of the white man, not the Maori.

“If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” Adolph Hitler.

The lie is this.... the treaty was in both languages. It boiled down to one particular key sentence which described the relationship between the Maori and White-man/Crown.    In the Maori version the word used spoke of them accepting the 'protection' of the Crown.  The English version spoke of the Maori accepting the SOVEREIGNTY of the Crown. A heck of a difference!

Here is an article that explores the issues.

Doesn't it make you wonder a bit why we crucify Hitler for 'his great and many lies'.....yet we seem to have the attitude "Yawn..nothing to see here...moving on" when it comes to our own lies that benefit us over the interests of 'non' us.

The best thing that came out of the NZ history and conflict between the British and Maori is the story of Gate Par where the Brits were introduced for the first time to 'trench warfare' as they attempted to enforce their 'sovereign' stamp of authority over one group of Maori.  The Maori concerned had long embraced the faith in Christ that the British were supposed to share.  One incident stands out. A wounded British soldier who was attacking the Maori fortress was cared for, and given water by non other than the Maori Chief (who was a woman in this case)

43 ‘You have heard that it was said, “Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.” 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.  (Matt 5)

If you ever wondered just how radical and revolutionary these words of Jesus are, just imagine you are a victim of ISIS today, having seen your family murdered, throats cut, head lopped off.... children ()Sister?)raped....  Only then can you realize how these words were not from human origin, but divine.
