Creation of Evolution?

 Oops... typo...the title was meant to be Creation OR Evolution. But then when I came to correct it just now, it struck me that the theory of evolution (in the sense that it encompasses an explanation of human/life origins) is really a "creation" by some scientists. Yes, natural selection does occur, I realize this, but as to how much this feature of life is more a 'mandated' creation element or  a full and complete explanation of life/existence?  hmm...this is a very debatable issue. So I won't change the title at this stage.

This kind of subject always generates a lot of hot air. So rather than add to it substantially, I want to pass on a  few little tidbits from what I just gleaned from good old "Discovery" channel.

Australophithicus Sediba.. Missing link! ?

There's all kinds of chatter about this in cyberspace, but the salient point to draw when the chatter has been distilled into comprehensible chunks is...

The claim is "This is a transitional species between ape and man."  The fossil evidence is around 2 million years old.

The problem is:

There are several reasons for giving Au. sediba a “pink slip.” First, from an evolutionary perspective, Au. sediba appeared on the scene too late in time. Even evolutionists recognize that Homo (humans) had already arrived. In my book, Bones of Contention, I list three fossils from Kenya and Tanzania dated by evolutionists at older than 2 million years that, morphologically, are indistinguishable from modern humans.(source)

At the 'press conference' where Au. Sediba was announced to the world by dr Lee Berger, it was fascinating to see all the glowing warm fuzzy emotion surrounding it.  People were looking like they'd suddenly found "god" so to speak.... had an epiphany, a revelation.    But I cannot find any reason for joy at the suggestion that 'we' humans are simply the product of survival of the fittest, biggest, strongest and smartest.  The only destination for that truck is on the highway to social hell as it means we are no different from the large male lions which firstly massacre all the offspring of a defeated pride male....then 'rape' the women...(Lionesses) who have already managed to spontaneously miscarry all developing cubs in their wombs, giving way to the new 'hero' to propagate his own genes through them.  He then becomes the doting father "playing with his kids".

I'm more stunned by the lack of individual realization of this, than their romantic  rejoicing at the scientific 'revelation' before their eyes.  Such discoveries to absolutely nothing to solve major world problems and less than nothing for our individual issues of self understanding.  If anything, such discoveries, when interpreted by convinced evolutionists, are harmful because they undermine the spiritual and moral foundations which hold us back from acting out like pride male lions.

Can anyone imagine how things would be if some big bloke moves into the neighbourhood, notices your attractive wife, decides that he will now be the father of new children with her... kills you and  the existing ones...and then rapes her, and declares that she is now under new management?

This kind of honest grappling with the philosophical ramifications of an evolutionary outlook are very threatening. Far too threatening for the sentimental humanist and romantic secularist. But as the late Dr Mosse  used to say to his History students at U Wisconsin, "I judge the success of my course by the number of suicides at the end".... another way, a rather harsh way of saying that learning the real story of history can be very threatening to many people's comfort blanky.  Well..tough luck.
We cannot have our cake and eat it too.

I covered this above, but did not go to the next step of offering something in place of the cold dark chill of a meaningless universe and meaningless life.   "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" Gen 1.1   Those words are the dividing line between that barren wasteland of emptiness and a fulfilling challenging life of vibrant interest and fulfillment.   But that's very general, very broad. The whole focus of the millenia between Creation and now has been and is, Christ.
Jesus of Nazareth, born into this world in fulfillment  of all the many promises in the Old Testament.
I'm not going to hastily gather a bunch of 'proof texts' for you here.. I just urge you to begin a journey with Christ, learn of Him,  the four Gospels are there, and only a few clicks away.

When I consider the impact of His life on one who would these days be called a 'heinous war criminal' (Paul the Apostle) I am humbled by the greatness of God....who would have thought that such a former war criminal type (I'm talking about his mental outlook which allowed him to drag off men and women to certain death at worst, torture at best) could even think of the words I'm about to quote:
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Paul- Ephesians 3)
